Featuring "Kesu"

Finally, the Probe Team Documentaries goes to Kalinga to meet with folk artist Alonzo Saclag. Saclag known to his students as “Kesu” is a Kalinga master of dance and performing arts. Growing up in Lubuagan, Kalinga, the third capital of revolutionary government of the Philippines, instilled in him a sense of nationalist pride about his ethnic Kalinga heritage. In 1974, he single-handedly formed the Kalinga Budong Dance Troupe. The group has so far won 5 national folk dancing awards since its formation. Ultimately he dreams of building an ethnic village -- a living museum and a thriving testament to the uniqueness of Kalinga culture. JM Cobarrubias puts on the traditional Kalinga garb and learns the dances of the Kalinga.

my name is Dominador Saclag and I grew up here in Manila, all my life i only knew that my ancestor are from Bicol, Albay. My father is Eduardo Bongay Saclag, a retired Q.C. Police officer now a barangay captain in Apud Libon, Albay. His key programs are promoting the kind of kind of life of our kababayan thru cleanliness, promoting arts and culture, empowering christian religion, anf creating job.I was amazed upon knowing that there is a man named Antonio Saclag from kalinga, for me who is a national artist, who is very popular and very nationalistic and inspiring a lot of people in promoting our cultural heritage.Eventhough we dont really knew each other i am so very proud for being a Filipino as well as beng Saclag.I love planting, in fact i have a lot of bonsai,i care for environment, i love poetry, i love arts as well as dancing, i can sing.I wish i could go to kalinga to trace the roots of saclag there and understand their ways.maybe if that time will come i will realize then that all my interest in preserving our culture, arts, and environment runs in the blood, in the blood of Saclag clan. More power Kesu. Keep pomoting our filipino heritage and be recognized worldwide.
